30th-Apr-2008 05:04 am - Visiting the Governor

It has been a while since I took pictures during one of my jaunts with Asha, so last Sunday morning I grabbed my camera when Asha and I headed out. We went to roam the paths next to the governor's mansion, which is a short drive from our house. At 6:30 in the morning, there was no one else around, so I didn't worry about letting Asha off leash.  It really is a lovely area, with paths, ponds, open fields, rolling hills and trees. When we arrived, there was a lot of mist coming off of the ponds, but it doesn't show up well in the photos. Asha does not like having her picture taken, so she is pretty serious looking in all of the photos, but I think she had a good time even though I was being very annoying. If you want to see some of the photos I took, click here.

26th-Jan-2008 02:07 pm - toothache

Here is a picture I snapped of Asha today as she snoozed in the sun streaming in through our front door. Poor baby has a badly broken tooth and is scheduled for surgery next Thursday to have it removed. In the meantime, she is on antibiotics, pain pills and antihistimines for her allergies. I need to pick up some Ambesol to put on that tooth as well. Asha, chillin in the drugged zone.

... do you insist on taking my picture when I so clearly dislike it?

24th-Oct-2007 10:34 am - The indignity of it all...
A week and a half ago, Asha's allergies were bothering her and she kept scratching her face until she created an open wound. Even after a visit to the vet for an allergy shot and lots of antibiotic cream being applied to the wound for a week, she has managed to keep messing with it, tearing a bigger and bigger wound in herself and to get it infected to boot. So, we went to the vet again today to get 10 days of antibiotics for her to take. The biggest problem is to get Asha to leave the wound alone so it can heal. We don't want to resort to one of those awful plastic Elizabethan collars that are so pitiful for dogs to wear, so the vet suggested that I see if I can get Asha to be willing to wear some of my hose. I cut up a pair of hose in an effort to hold a gauze pad with antibiotic cream on it over the wound and to *hopefully* keep that scratching paw off of it.

I can only imagine how embarrassing this must be for Asha...

AZ

I made a couple of efforts at some digital pieces. Naturally, I chose to use my favorite subject, one Mz Asha Zoe. The other effort can be seen here.

In other news, the a/c repair guys are here installing the new central a/c system after my old system died a couple of weeks ago. It has be getting up around 100, so needless to say, I've been sweltering. I look forward to chilling out later. I've been sick too, so the heat has been particularly uncomfortable. Hopefully, this will be the last of major house crises for a while (knock on wood).

2nd-May-2007 12:00 am - Sunday's dogwalk

Last Sunday's early morning romp with Asha was at Gage Park.  It was a beautiful morning. More pictures may be seen here.

30th-Apr-2007 08:49 pm - Animal Land

The playground in a local park is filled with fun creatures made of cement. Yesterday, on my early morning jaunt with Asha and a friend, I took some photos at this playground. The rest of the photos may be seen here.
